Deliverance for someone within the new covenant?
In the Bible, we learn that there are cases in which demons can enter in a person in order to dwell in that person. For example, Jesus talked about "an unclean spirit" (Matthew 12:43) with "other spirits more evil than itself" (Matthew 12:45) who went to a person "And HAVING ENTERED IN, THEY DWELL THERE, and the last (state of) that person becomes worse (than) the first" (Matthew 12:45). Jesus also said when casting a demon OUT of a person: "Mute and deaf spirit, I command you — COME OUT OF HIM and ENTER INTO HIM no-longer" (Mark 9:25).
For people within the new covenant, the Holy Spirit can be described as dwelling specifically in our hearts, as Paul wrote of "the Spirit in our hearts" (2 Corinthians 1:22). There is biblical evidence to infer that a demon may not dwell specifically in the heart of someone within the new covenant in whom the Holy Spirit is.
Furthermore, people within the new covenant are described as belonging to God, as it is written "you-are not your (own), for you-were-bought (with a) price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This would indicate that a demon could not rightfully claim any right of ownership over a believer's body, as it belongs to God. There is also further biblical evidence for that.
Now the "heart" (Matthew 22:37) in which the Holy Spirit dwells is not all that is linked to a human. There is for example also the "soul" (Matthew 22:37), the "mind" (Matthew 22:37), the "spirit" (1 Thessalonians 5:23), and the "body" (1 Thessalonians 5:23).
In the Bible, we learn also that the body of a human can have a PART that may be different from the rest of the whole body. For example, Jesus taught that the "body" (Luke 11:36) of someone could have a "PART full-of-darkness" (Luke 11:36), as He said: "if your whole body (is) full-of-light, not having any PART full-of-darkness, (then the) whole (body) will-be full-of-light" (Luke 11:35-36).
All that is linked to what constitutes a human may leave room to ask ourselves: could demons be able to dwell somewhere else than in the heart of a someone within the new covenant? There is biblical evidence to infer that a someone within the new covenant may be able to find themselves having a need for deliverance from demons, and evidence for that can be found below:
