Matthew 15:22-26 - Bread of the children?
Does Matthew 15:22-26 indicate a need of deliverance for those who have been believers in the past?
Matthew 15:22: "And behold — (a) Canaanite woman having-come-out from those districts was-crying-out, saying, “Have-mercy-on me, Master, Son (of) David. My daughter is badly demonized”."
Matthew 15:23: "But the (One) did not respond (a) word (to) her. And having-come-to (Him), His disciples were-asking Him, saying, “Send her away, because she-is-crying-out after us”."
Matthew 15:24: "But the (One), having-responded, said, “I-was not sent-forth except for the lost SHEEP (of the) HOUSE (of) ISRAEL”."
Matthew 15:25: "But the (one), having-come, was-prostrating (herself before) Him, saying, “Master, help me”."
Matthew 15:26: "And the (One), having-responded, said, “It-is not good to-take the BREAD (of) the CHILDREN and throw (it to) the little-dogs”."
Deliverance for believers?
After that "(a) Canaanite woman" (Matthew 15:22) came to Jesus asking for help for her daughter who was "demonized" (Matthew 15:22), Jesus said "I-was not sent-forth except for the lost SHEEP (of the) HOUSE (of) ISRAEL" (Matthew 15:24) and also added that "It-is not good to-take the BREAD (of) the CHILDREN and throw (it to) the little-dogs" (Matthew 15:26).
Jesus referred to the "help" (Matthew 15:25) for someone who was "demonized" (Matthew 15:22) as "the BREAD (of) the CHILDREN" (Matthew 15:26). The CHILDREN in that context would have been the CHILDREN of the "HOUSE (of) ISRAEL" (Matthew 15:24), specifically here "the lost SHEEP (of the) HOUSE (of) ISRAEL" (Matthew 15:24)
Could this principle under the old covenant also apply to believers under the new covenant?
The "HOUSE (of) ISRAEL" (Matthew 15:24) would later be named under the new covenant, as the Lord said: "I-will-consummate (a) new covenant for the HOUSE (of) ISRAEL" (Hebrews 8:8).
The CHILDREN of God under the old covenant were not necessarily those of the seed of ABRAHAM: as it is written: "Nor (are they) all CHILDREN because they-are seed (of) ABRAHAM" (Romans 9:7). Instead, the children of the promise made to ABRAHAM are counted for seed to be the CHILDREN of God, as it continues: "but the CHILDREN (of) the promise are-counted for seed" (Romans 9:8).
By extension, those who are Christ’s are the seed of OF ABRAHAM according to the promise (and thus the CHILDREN of the promise made TO ABRAHAM), as it is written: "If you (are) Christ’s, then you-are seed (of) ABRAHAM — heirs according-to (the) promise" (Galatians 3:29).
This may imply that those who are Christ’s could also be named now the "SHEEP (of the) HOUSE (of) ISRAEL" (Matthew 10:6), under the new covenant, and thus also be described as "the CHILDREN" (Matthew 15:26) according to the promise made TO ABRAHAM.
If so, then in the same way that Jesus was sent to "the lost SHEEP (of the) HOUSE (of) ISRAEL" (Matthew 15:24) in order to give them "the BREAD (of) the CHILDREN" (Matthew 15:26) which was the "help" (Matthew 15:25) for someone who was "demonized" (Matthew 15:22), the same way "the CHILDREN" (Matthew 15:26) according to the promise made TO ABRAHAM today under the new covenant could also be in need of "the BREAD (of) the CHILDREN" (Matthew 15:26).
