Who can cast out demons?

Who can cast out demons?

Who can cast out a demon?

The Bible describes those who were said TO CAST OUT demons. For example:

Jesus (Matthew 8:16).

Apostles of Jesus (Matthew 10:1-2).

Disciples of Jesus appointed and sent by Jesus (Luke 10:1 & Luke 10:17)

An evangelist of Jesus (Acts 8:5-7).

Those believing in Jesus (John 14:12?).

Judas, the one who later handed over Jesus (Mark 3:16-19 & Mark 6:7 & Mark 6:13).

Sons of Pharisees (Matthew 12:24 & Matthew 12:27-28).

Someone not following the group of Jesus with the disciples (Mark 9:38-39).

Many workers of lawlessness whom Jesus never knew (Matthew 7:22-23).

Below you will find the descriptions listed above in detail.

Biblical evidence of those who were said to be able to cast out demons (in biblical order)

Many workers of lawlessness whom Jesus never knew:

It is written that Jesus said: "Many will-say (to) Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did-we not prophesy (in) Your name, and CAST-OUT DEMONS (in) Your name, and do many miracles (in) Your name?’ And then I-will-declare (to) them that ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, (ones) working lawlessness" (Matthew 7:22-23).

Jesus:

It is written: "Jesus, having-come into the house (of) Peter, saw his mother-in-law having-been-put (in bed), and being-sick-with-fever. And He-touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she-arose, and was-serving Him. And having-become evening, they-brought to Him many being-demonized. And HE-CAST-OUT the spirits (with a) word" (Matthew 8:14-16).

Apostles of Jesus:

It is written: "having-summoned His twelve disciples, He-gave them authority (over) unclean spirits so-as TO-BE-CASTING them OUT, and to-be-curing every disease and every infirmity. Now the names (of) the twelve apostles are these" (Matthew 10:1-2).

Sons of Pharisees:

It is written: "the Pharisees, having-heard (it), said, “This (One) is not casting-out the demons except by Beelzebul, (the) ruler (of) the demons!”" (Matthew 12:24) and Jesus said to them: "if I am-casting-out the demons by Beelzebul, by whom are your sons CASTING-(them)-OUT? Because-of this they will-be your judges; but if I am-casting-out the demons in (the) Spirit (of) God, then the kingdom (of) God came upon you" (Matthew 12:27-28).

Judas, the one who later handed over Jesus:

Judas was among the twelve appointed by Jesus who were then sent out and were said to CAST OUT demons.

It is written about Jesus that "He-appointed the twelve, even Peter (He-put (the) name on Simon), and James, (the son of) Zebedee, and John, the brother (of) James (and He-put-on them (the) name Boanerges, which means “sons (of) thunder”), and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James, the (son of) Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon, the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who also handed Him over" (Mark 3:16-19).

3 chapters later, it is written about Jesus that "He-summons the twelve, and began to-send them out two (by) two. And He-was-giving them authority (over) the unclean spirits" (Mark 6:7) and "having-gone-forth, they-proclaimed that they-should-repent. And THEY-WERE-CASTING-OUT many DEMONS" (Mark 6:12-13).

Someone not following the group of Jesus with the disciples:

It is written: "John said (to) Him, “Teacher, we-saw someone CASTING-OUT DEMONS in Your name. And we-were-forbidding him because he-was not following us”. But Jesus said, “Do not be-forbidding him. For there-is no-one who will-do (a) miracle on (the basis of) My name, and soon be-able to-speak-evil-of Me" (Mark 9:38-39).

Those believing in Jesus:

John 14:12 could be evidence that the ones believing in Jesus would CAST OUT demons. Jesus said in that verse: "“Truly, truly, I-say (to) you — the (one) believing in Me, that (one) also will do the works which I am doing." (John 14:12). So the one believing in Jesus also will do the works that Jesus is doing, and Jesus was for example CASTING OUT demons, as it is written: "He-went proclaiming in their synagogues in all Galilee and CASTING-OUT the demons" (Mark 1:39).

Disciples of Jesus appointed and sent by Jesus:

It is written: "the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them out ahead (of) His presence two by two" (Luke 10:1), "the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons ARE-SUBJECT (to) US in Your name”." (Luke 10:17), "Behold — I-am-giving you the authority to-trample on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power (of) the enemy. And nothing will by-any-means harm you. Nevertheless, do not be-rejoicing in this — that the spirits ARE-SUBJECT (to) YOU" (Luke 10:19-20).

An evangelist of Jesus:

It is written: "Philip, having-gone-down to a city (of) Samaria, was-proclaiming the Christ (to) them. And the crowds with-one-accord were-paying-attention-to the (things) being-said by Philip, during their hearing and seeing the signs which he-was-doing. For many (of) the (ones) having unclean spirits — THEY-WERE-COMING-OUT (while) shouting (with a) loud voice" (Acts 8:5-7).

This Philip would have been Philip the evangelist and not Philip the apostle:

"PHILIP, having-gone-down to a city (of) Samaria, was-proclaiming the Christ" (Acts 8:5). Was this "PHILIP" (Acts 8:5) the apostle "PHILIP" (Acts 1:13) or was this the "PHILIP" (Acts 6:5) who was serving tables? It was most likely the "PHILIP" (Acts 6:5) serving tables, as it is written: "(a) great persecution came-about on that day against the church in Jerusalem, and they-were all dispersed throughout the regions (of) Judea and SAMARIA, except the apostles" (Acts 8:1) and we read about "PHILIP, having-gone-down to a city (of) SAMARIA" (Acts 8:5). The "apostles" (Acts 8:1) were not dispersed throughout the regions of SAMARIA like this "PHILIP" (Acts 8:5) was, therefore this PHILIP may be the "PHILIP" (Acts 6:5) who was serving tables.

Also the "PHILIP" (Acts 6:5) who was serving tables and was one of the "SEVEN men" (Acts 6:3) was also "PHILIP the evangelist (being (one) of the SEVEN)" (Acts 21:8).
