It is possible for demons to not come out after trying to cast them out

There are examples in the Bible of people trying to cast out a demon and not managing to cast it out.

For example, it is written that a man said to Jesus: "I-brought my son having (a) mute spirit to You" (Mark 9:17), "And I-spoke (to) Your disciples in-order-that they-might-cast it out, and they-were not strong-(enough)”." (Mark 9:18).

Another example: it is written that "some (of) the Jewish exorcists going-around attempted to-name the name (of) the Lord Jesus over the (ones) having the evil spirits, saying, “I-adjure you (by) the Jesus Whom Paul is-proclaiming”. Now there-were seven sons (of a) certain Sceva, (a) Jewish chief-priest, doing this. But having-responded, the evil spirit said (to) them, “I-know Jesus and know-about Paul, but who are-you?” And the man in whom was the evil spirit — having-leaped on them, having-subdued both (of them) — prevailed against them, so that (they) fled out-of that house naked and having-been-wounded" (Acts 19:13-16).

There can reasons for a demon to not come out after trying to cast it out.

Reasons from the one trying to cast out demons:

1) Misdiagnosing

Someone could misdiagnose a subject by thinking that they need demons to be cast out when it is not the case. Before trying to cast out demons one can check if there is a need for a demon to be cast out.

3) Demons may not come out instantly

Reasons from the subject needing demons to be cast out from them:

1) Faith can be expected

Faith can be expected from someone asking for a demon to be cast out.

Furthermore, casting out demons can be considered a miracle. A miracle can require faith from someone receiving it.

If casting out demons can be considered a miracle, and if a miracle can fail to happen if the subject does not believe, then it could be possible to infer that casting out demons could fail to happen if the person receiving would not believe.

This could be what would have happened when Jesus went somewhere and "He-was not able to-do any miracle there — except, having-laid (His) hands on (a) few sick (ones), He-cured (them). And He-was-marveling because-of their unbelief" (Mark 6:5-6).

Jesus was "not able to-do any miracle there" (Mark 6:5) and "He-was-marveling because-of their unbelief" (Mark 6:6). There are no mentions of Jesus casting out demons there, which could have been considered a "miracle" (Mark 6:5). Could this be "because-of their unbelief" (Mark 6:6)? If so, this may be additional evidence for why faith can be expected from someone asking for a demon to be cast out (which unbelief could prevent from happening in that case).

2) Repentance may be expected

Repentance may be expected from someone asking for a demon to be cast out.
